Celebrating the Global Pulse Day 2017, Grain Legumes through ICRISAT Cafeteria served about 1000 pulse-based meals. A range of dishes from Indian and continental cuisines was the menu at the ICRISAT Cafeteria today. The platter included pigeonpea dosa (pancake), mix lentil salad, kidney bean pasta soup, chickpea hummus, cowpea masala, sprouts pilaf and beans chocolate tart.
The celebration not only aimed at creating awareness on pulses and their importance to the guests but also to demonstrate the variety of dishes that can be prepared easily with pulses.
Global Pulse Day is a global event to celebrate pulses and continue the momentum of the International Year of Pulses 2016 (IYP). Over 200 events in countries are being celebrated today to mark the day. IYP 2016 was meant to create opportunities and encourage all stakeholders, including national governments to work towards improving pulses’ production and consumption.
